Tampines Central Division has formed an Emergency Preparedness (EP)
Group to lead, monitor and co-ordinate emergency preparedness in
our constituency.
The EP group, being part of the CCC which is the
apex of the grassroots organisations (GROs) in a constituency, will
have the necessary overview of the capabilities of GROs and community
resources. Hence, it is in the best position to mobilize the community
under different kinds of emergency situations such as infectious
disease outbreaks, widespread and prolonged blackouts or water shortage,
fire in a housing estate and bomb explosions.
To prepare for the Tampines Central EP Group's role in supporting
such situations eventually, a plan is needed to enable GROs to react
quickly and correctly to address whatever emergencies may arise.
This is to build greater confidence among the group members and
to maintain racial harmony and social cohesion among the residents
in Tampines Central during civil and national emergencies.
The functions of the EP Group are :
a) Lead, co-ordinate and monitor the activities of the GROs during major civil and national emergencies.
b) Plan local-level response to major civil and national emergencies in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant government authorities.
c) Mobilize and organize the GROs and the community during major civil and national emergencies to:

i) maintain racial harmony
and social cohesion ; |

ii) disseminate critical information to
the residents ; |
| |
iii) provide financial and social assistance to affected residents; and |
| |
iv) gather feedback and help maintain public
confidence . |
d) Promote community involvement and participation
in emergency preparedness during peace times.
