Senior Citizens' Executive Committee (SCEC)

The Tampines Central SCEC was formed in 1999 to manage senior citizens' clubs formed under the CCC, CCMC and RCs. They organize a wide range of activities for the club members to lead an active, healthy and meaningful life.

27th November 2004 was definitely a day of joy and fun as residents participated in Tampines Melodies, an event jointly organized by the Senior Citizens' Executive Committees in the Tampines GRC.

A carnival in the day coupled with a night of cultural performances, were held at the new Tampines Central Community Club. A tree planting ceremony officiated by MP Sin Boon Ann served to commemorate the Clean and Green Week.

MP Sin Boon Ann along with Distinguished Guests - Minister Mah Bow Tan, MP Yatiman Yusof and MP Ong Kian Min were present to grace the occasion.

MP Sin Boon Ann was invited to sing the very first song of the night. Accompanied by a group of dancers, he belted out his pitch-perfect version of the Chinese Classic "Rong Shu Xia" and received thunderous applause from the audience.

There were many other performances such as multicultural songs, dances and drama performances put up by the grassroots' leaders from Tampines GRC, the Happy Cultural Group, as well as students from Poi Ching School's Chinese Orchestra.

A rousing rendition of the timeless Scottish classic 'Auld Lang Syne' concluded the memorable event.
