Youth Executive Committee (YEC)

The Tampines Central YEC was formed in 1997 to manage youth group at the CC. It organizes a wide range of social, cultural, sports, educational, adventure, leadership training and youth exchange programmes to channel youthful energies to constructive pursuits.

The YEC initiates programmes for our members and encourages them to carry out so as to build closer ties with other Tampines Central grassroots organizations, to implement community projects to better serve our residents.

The YEC is always consistently in search of enthusiastic youths to join us. If you feel you are ready to take up the challenge, and age between 12-35 years, please come forth to join us.

For the first time, Tampines Central CC YEC organized the "Kids' Entrepreneurs" on Sunday 20th June 04 at the Tampines Central Park. Chairman of Tampines Central Community Centre Management Committee, Mr David Loh, PBM was the Guest-of-Honour.

The aim of this event was to promote entrepreneurship amongst the young, students from Eunos Primary School, Haig Girls’ Primary School, MacPherson Primary School, Temasek Primary School. The SBL Vision Student Care Centre set up stalls selling an assortment of knick-knacks and food for 1,500 visitors.

Also participating in the event were children from abc children's place, Fey Siang Kindergarten, Moriah Child Care and Development Centre, and Taman Bacaan Child Care Centre.

Marking Father's Day, which coincided with the event, was a Father-Child Look-Alike contest.

Tampines Central Community Club played host to a well-attended YEC's 4th Biennial General Meeting on 03 Sept 2005 held from 6pm to 10pm . The programme that evening was a colourful display of the vibrancy of Tampines Central youths.

It featured various performances from Youth Executive Committee's drama & dance groups and other fringe groups in our community. The highlight of the evening was the formal ceremony of dissolving the present youth committee and the appointment of a new line-up of youth members. A total of 16 youths form this new committee.

The proceedings was conducted in the presence of our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Patrick Tan, PBM holding the post of CCMC Chairman.

It was also witnessed by the many youth members and grassroots leaders.

The next meeting will be conducted 2 years from this evening with the passing of this new committee.
